Bluray Movie Review : Fantastic ‘Sugar’ Deserves Wide Home Audience

As the baseball season winds over, take some time to catch up with one of the best drama the year and one of the best films made about the changing face of the game in Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden great "Sugar", a film better with each viewing and how it It depends on the memory. Now Blu-Ray DVD and not miss the "Sugar".
I'm not going to sell the "Sugar" as a traditional baseball movie. This is far from "Bull Durham" or "Field of Dreams". That's more than what baseball has become for many players in the '00s, the story of immigration. That's not a traditional story about overcoming adversity rising star to find fame and fortune.

So what is "Sugar"? First, the fun things from beginning to end, even if the standard of sports-inspired film, "so the audience would expect. Smiles all 'Sugar' for several reasons, but perhaps it should be noted that, at least in part, because I not only am a baseball nut, but nuts pitching. I am a lover of the game he would rather see the failure of a beautiful home run derby. "Sugar" Hell is one movie that failed.
The title character is 20 years old, Dominican baseball player in Kansas City Knights named Miguel "Sugar" Santos (played by both elements in the show Algenis Perez Soto). Sugar was never presented as a superstar guaranteed. These are people trying to make their way through the penal system to the next, and Robinson Canó played at Yankee Stadium.

Sugar opportunity to report to Spring Training
Where he could rise to one-A ball or sent to a system of agriculture in the Caribbean. He is one of the most successful and became the starting pitcher for the Single-A Bridgetown Swing, took him to the heart of the United States. Finally he lived with a very religious family, often basically foster parents, English language training and advice on Small Town Life.

Review : Blu-ray Gets into Parody This Week

This is not the fact that this week: n Blu-ray versions are bad. Still follow esittämislupa terrible summer schedule, the list includes some of the fun and dramatic choices, which can be either passed or seen only once, and it could be used to display high-def title.

But I must, first, that there is a larger theme parody, movie genre in itself in the work, or that some companies and film, which actually is almost parodioi itself.

You Dance Flick, who has been a characteristic Wayans as Date Movie, Scary Movie, Epic Movie, and obvious parody. Olet myös Offices age: Season 5 niinkään täysimittainen Parodi, Buenos mutta työtä huijaus day-to-day työpaikalla grind. And there is Stephen King's Creepshow, where he worked and zombie master George Romero flick to renew a 50-comic book of scary stories about them, perhaps more respect than parody, but in the same way.

Then there is the parody of other classes, a veritable parody of itself, leading us like Freddy vs. Jason, Over the Top, The Postman this week. You see where I will be. Slasher characters, Sly Stallone and Kevin Costner ... 'Nuff said.

Anyhow, if you're looking to try some of the films, some of them this week also underestimate Menace II Society, Quick and the Dead and Requiem for a Dream (not comedy, that Marlon Wayans).

Here’s the full release schedule for the week, courtesy of Blu-ray.com:

Sonic Solutions is Ready For Digital Movies To Heat up

Sonic Solutions CEO Dave Habiger believes his big gamble on fire.

Sonic (steak), thanks to the popular CD-and DVD-burning software, Roxio Creator, which dominates its market. Habiger, but believes that the work of a small spark of the flame, compared to what he sees great future for the company: to provide software for the electronic transmission of digital film equipment sales and rent movies via the on-line service, Roxio CinemaNow.

"We have spent the past four years, and most of the money for this new," he says. "I finally came to a decision."

Sonic is also a professional tool to produce Hollywood DVD and Blu-ray discs. As the company prepared for the transition to DVD and Blu-ray, it arrived at the conclusion of the business world as we know it to rent and sell DVD - I think Netflix, Blockbuster, angular Video Store - Ready to exit. Habiger's view, the time has finally come for movies delivered over the Internet can be destroyed equipment such as televisions, mobile phones and ultra-portable computers known as netbooks.

"The idea that right now, there are some plastic balls ... which has been supplied to plants in Taiwan, and they are melted and pressed flat, and the film will play it, and this disc will be sent back to the United States ... That the model does not make sense anymore "he says.

For decades, Hollywood has salivated in the concept of saving on production and distribution costs goes directly to consumers, video on demand (VOD), but it is a slow process. Originally, the idea was that cable and satellite systems to build a reliable system to compete with any movie library.

While many of the players are more video-on-demand to work today, most of them do not come close to providing an on-line stores, such as Netflix, Amazon and Apple, which is pushed into selling their goals demand set-top boxes that plug into TV consumers.

"Connected" on Blu-ray players

Sonic plays on both sides of the field. It cooperates with the Taiwanese electronics giant Samsung's new type of "connected" on Blu-ray player. You can watch high-definition Blu-ray movie discs, but if you connect to the Internet, you can also see the Internet-delivered movies CinemaNow Roxio (at $ 3.99 pop) or Netflix. You can use YouTube videos as well.

Samsung introduced two models in May competitor Samsung has two, and more are expected by the end of the year, and the television can receive preloaded Internet channels, such as CinemaNow - or Blockbuster online channel, which leads to CinemaNow.

"Come home, consumers are difficult to find consumer electronics (hardware) that has nothing to do," says Habiger.

Sonic is also difficult for Hollywood to sell its software CineVision, which prepares the movie online store. Many studies now Sonic to offer the "digital copy" is a movie DVD and Blu-ray versions. (When you buy a disc, you get the digital version is actually stored on CinemaNow site.)

The company has invested 250 million U.S. dollars over the last three years - mainly on the sale of Roxio software - to prepare for change. CinemaNow in November, it purchased $ 3 million.

Sonic has lost 4.3 million U.S. dollars income of 120 million U.S. dollars in 2008. Latest quarter, broke even, Habiger said. He lost only $ 80,000 income of 25 million U.S. dollars.

The large increase in the coming

Analyst Carl Howe, the Yankee Group is the transition from living room to the "very early now, but he sees tremendous growth. There is 3 million related to the Blu-ray players LG and Samsung from their homes in the U.S. by the end of the year, he says, will rise 8 million next year.

Web TV access a broader market. There are 6 million U.S. dollars in place by the end of the year, growing 11.7 million in 2010 and 50 million in 2013, Yankee projects.

But to make dreams come true Sonic, Netflix, Amazon and other circumstances, the two major obstacles must be overcome: the network speed and technology issues. Consumers need a fast home network for streaming movies, and even faster connections to see them high-def. I have the settings should be simple, not today.

The new living room, Habiger said, the TV with a built-in Wi-Fi today, the biggest potential market.

All in all, a new delivery method is much more work than the Creator, Roxio's flagship software, which has been submitted to over 350 million copies of the latest, he says, and about 60% of Sonic's income.

Creator of the new version was released last week provides tools Copy DVD and video files more quickly and create a DVD collection of many articles. Habiger said Roxio continues to grow, "More and more video products all the time and is filed under.

But if he can get 1% of the annual 50 billion U.S. dollars DVD sales and rental companies online movie sales, "We are moving from 100 million to a billion dollars business."

Edited 'Play' still works thanks to talented cast

"State of Play": The big screen version of the popular 2003 BBC mini-series "State of Play" loses much of the nuances of the original, but still manages a solid, sophisticated entertainment service. Russell Crowe stars as slobby, cynical journalist investigation is a story of murder, and a secret military firebrand Congressman played by Ben Affleck. The mix of '70s-style theater and contemporary newspaper references to blogs and Iraq is sometimes awkward, but the performances are equally strong (especially Jason Bateman's funny supporting turn as a PR rep) for a military contractor. The DVD includes a featurette lasting 20 minutes and deleted scenes, which adds Blu-ray picture-in-picture guide to places of the film. (Universal)

"Disney Nature: Earth": The 11-hour BBC / Discovery Channel series "Planet Earth" nature took the form of documents to a new level, showing how high-definition cameras can send images of animals and habitats never seen on the screen captures. Disney's 90-minute 'Earth' takes a part of the series' content and form as the story of the changing seasons, as seen through the lives of the bears, elephants and whales. The drawing device is corny, but for those who want a sort of "Greatest Hits" of the mini-series as "Earth" and very well. The DVD and Blu-ray and a making-of featurette and annotations on the screen. (Walt Disney)

"Sin Nombre": Writer and director Cary Fukunaga makes an impressive feature film debut in "Sin Nombre", a beautiful shot, tasteful indie about Mexican gangs, rob people and use that to U. S. Stow-bound trains. One of the robbers and an illegal immigrant form an unlikely alliance, and their goals in life are found to change as they head into a new future. "Sin Nombre" relies too much on stereotypes and fleshy violence, but the outdoors alive with the public places we rarely see in movies. The DVD comes with an assortment of deleted scenes and an informative commentary track by producer Amy Kaufman and Fukunaga. (Universal)

"Sugar": The writer-director team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck follow up their excellent "Half Nelson" with another winner "Sugar", a well-calibrated fish-out-of-water drama about a Dominican baseball Player (Algenis Perez Soto) is always open to American baseball pitcher as a starting point for a Class A team in Iowa. Avoiding the usual cliches of culture clash and the Outsiders, and soil patches instead of the small, details of a real talented athlete to adjust to instant celebrity, a thick language barrier and all the little setbacks focus - injuries, homesickness, Heartbreak - just turn him a poor child, do not. The DVD and Blu-ray offers a good package of extras including Deleted Scenes and three featurettes on the film and the Latin American baseball.

Movie Review : District 9

It seems to me much of life, is never to anyone. If you are looking for other reviews and just Breezing World Wide Web on the film, you're likely to find a clean, praise and hope for District 9, and some critics are willing to film the best time to sign. Unfortunately I do not agree with my colleague, an irrepressible love for the film - but I did it quite often. Although I am quick to notice and commend the district 9, fortunately for everyone, but I think the same excitement that fire many of the critics to judge.

District 9 is currently in South Africa, which is the same as we in South Africa, with one important difference - the alien descended over Johannesburg 28 years ago and immediately broke down, stranding more than one million alien crustaceans, such as the earth . When time went by, and the country was without a massive attack or a major step in engineering, the excitement is to fear and distrust and impatience. Multinational United (MNU), was reduced to control the situation abroad, which led to the visitors from each District 9, a cottage-town, where people are just criminals and foreigners living in relative poverty. Human gangsters resident aliens, the arms trade, cats, and other items, if an alien weapon that is useless if the people of the encoded DNA. The story begins when the nature of our contact, Wikus van der Merwe can be arranged to almost 2 million foreigners District 10 of transfer under the guise of improving conditions. Through him, and particularly adept with a different name Christopher, we must understand the dark side of MNU and to receive information about the special relationship.

His feature debut of director Neill Blomkamp South Africa made a dynamic entrance to the stage. His name had been touted as directly connected to the Halo, seemingly from nowhere, but now we see why millions of dollars from someone who would give this young director. Visually, the area 9 is always impressive, whether we follow through the district, or Wikus in the midst of the furious "Fight Fire in slum areas. Blomkamp can also accept my most hated shots when the camera is connected to the actor, but him (see Apocalyptco or PI), and gives the camera a few interesting weapons in the middle of the end of the Fire Fight making. Bravo. Blomkamp well cast in the performance of people, most of us have never seen before, such as first actor Sharlto Copley, entirely his own, every minute on the screen. Digital effects is the subject of much admiration and a big reason - it's brilliant. Certainly, anyone who knows computers, understands and sees the aliens and their ships are CGI, but in terms of CGI, because it is almost perfect thing.

If I have problems with the film or the cause of his excitement of the finger had been less, it is the story. Maybe the next generation of people 15 years of apartheid, the story could be deeper than what it is - but it would not, if history lessons are still in office. You see that foreigners are black Africa Fasteners, when all else is a white South Africa Fasteners representative of the time, which ended in 1994, segregation, or apartheid, not only acceptable, but sold well. Certainly a large part of the film directly inspired the stories of family, of which there are millions, and add the required number of white evil-scientist test you happy with the team right. The film is not necessarily smart or smarter than the other apartheid film, but it can and emotionally. After a few moments, some laugh at the fate of the shrimp, the derogatorily called, I was ashamed that the man or the world. I am convinced that we have more answers than forced reductions, then we can collect creatures from heaven?
While this is not apartheid, based on this basis, wow me (no mistake, the movie can be heartbreakingly emotional, if not entirely original, when the people with foreigners), which kill or film. No, the problem is the characterization. This is easily one little spoilers. You may have noticed, I Wikus described as our "heroes", but not our hero, because he has everything else. Wikus is the first big companies want infantry strongly to expel foreigners from their homes without any break. Later, when is absurd selfish function remains unchanged, even after the close friendship of foreign Christopher. This link is easily broken, however, and Wikus motivation remains clear its interest in the camp, which is important for more than two million foreigners clever. It is selfishness that I left the movie. I felt I was not fully matter-Wikus, he was a bit stupid. Only that a sign error, and I filled the whole movie experience. It is strange how the mind works.

All told, District 9 is one of the best films of the year. I have a problem during peak hours, it is quite different, something else has come already. That alone is broken that I know of drama and film activities in the field. The first half of the film is very emotional, such as connection to extraterrestrials, and the last half alarming exciting than the shit hits the fan and the bodies hit the floor, ceiling, and everything around. Yes, that is the last part of the film is full of wonderful events and some of the best scenes and some of the best of several recent shooting. The cool factor is the exploding foreign weaprony, mechanical, and thousands of ammunition for a suit that kicks ass ton combat. After a few moments to remember emotions you feel when previously Bounce up and down in a chair liter of blood splashing around - the number of deaths, which are worth applause.

Now you are in doubt, confusion, as I am - I say almost nothing wrong with the movie but the preliminary investigation, we can say that I do not like it, just like everyone else. But do not rub - I do not love it like everyone else. But I'm happy. District 9 is a good film, which was better, but he was more than satisfactory, and he lived up to all my expectations and I got a surprise a number of revolutions. Thank splatter gore moments, and felt strangely touched the emotional bond formed in shrimp. Go see this movie.

PS3 Slim Better for watching Blu-ray discs?

Yes, it all depends ...
In a hardware test recently that the people on the many studies Engadgetdid Slim PS3 achievements, and in most cases carried out the old "fat" PS3. For those who bought the PS3, mainly for Blu-ray itself is something of a puzzle. More than a series of tests, idle speed on the PS3 Slim older model, with one exception, Blu-ray. From Blu-ray movies on average, five seconds left in the PS3 Slim as the standard model. The difference is as small as two seconds of the "Air Force One", and as high as ten seconds of "The Nightmare Before Christmas".

Of course, for the PS3 Slim one, what did the standard model does not do to home theater fans think twice about it. Sony new system can bitstream lossless TrueHD and DTS-HD MA audio, making it the perfect choice for anyone that is higher than audio are requirements.

Movie Review : Requiem for a Dream

The film itself is taught by Darren Aronofsky. The "requiem for a Dream" director Darren Aronofsky adaptation of Hubert Selby Jr. 's novel awful, the filmmakers' visuals is really a personal statement, a brand of dynamism, the technology is not just for themselves explosive but is an integral part of the story. The book is relentlessly dark and the flashes of visual understanding of the director, who wrote the screenplay with Hubert Selby is given, was postponed because he was in love red. For Starters, has pointed out that this film is a downer, and a knockout. "dead" interweaves the stories of four drug addicts, Harry (Jared Leto), his mother Sara (Ellen Burstyn), his girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) and her partner in crime / friend Tyrone (Marlon connected to erase Wayans) in their pursuit of a real high. However, the picture holds close to the theme of the novel is the real medicine that we all "American Dream" is, in his promises of big cash paydays and fame and eventually happiness.

As the movie began, Harry sometimes agree with his mother Sara Goldfarb for his regular appointment to steal and 1970, relic farmers a television set. Soon, however, he was a gift from him, a Sony TV that marked all the bells and whistles with a new VCR and a large tower speakers on both sides of the new TV to take. In a role reversal is offensive feelings, Harry adults. He recognizes the natural teeth grinding his mother as careless behavior of a television amphetamines, he was eating pills prescribed by a doctor so they can weight in on their favorite TV segments to go for a raise roof connected to-the-weight-loss infomercial with a predatory host (Christopher McDonald). The hardness of the infomercial is another detail, the perfect pitch.

The history of the characters is a dream-search. Harry wants to become rich, his mother wants to marry him and happy with the bonus of a possible grandchildren, Marion and wanted a part of his life. He talks her out of his previous therapist, so they must keep some money in the drug trade can get Harry. Their revulsion is so visceral you can make the bile in his mouth. Jennifer Connelly whittled down to a new kind of weight, and it was her performance that gives the film weight, as they fall is the steepest. By the end of the film, as he curls in a happy fetal ball with a pleasant smile on the face, they came to his shame as a graphic orgy are shown in a few minutes before this love scene. Its implementation for Disruptive and Connelly has not done anything to us how good he was here to prepare.

Will Aronofsky takes astonishing show from his actors. The welcome revelation, Marlon Wayans, whose work can border on comedic sobra loud and make you cringe at the same time. His hyperactivity conveys a compelling need for the attention of someone so more frightening presence. In one of the most haunting moment of the film we see Tyrone and stared with his new glasses and he flashback to a time when all his problems only comforted by her mother away. Here, as Harry's dream of running buddy, he lets the charisma, the work for him and dissolves exacerbated by all the tensions that his lower jaw muscle. For a moment we are not sure if this is really Marlon Wayans. This, however, and his face was not negligent of hobbies, was born the repression of freedom keeps him alert and wired. He related to Jared Leto, and two of them do incredibly real and believable pair, a plan of running its own drug trading business.

The biggest and most tragic power, the representation of Ellen Burstyn Sara Goldfarb. This is a role that strips all her vanity and showing the decline of a sweet, caring mother who is alone and just wanted his son Harry lived there. Watching his mind slowly dissolve in the madness is the thing that income to see the movie. It is a tragedy that one of the greatest achievements you an Actress is not the Oscar. I think it's as good as it is not just a performance, but a living breathing human suicide is set to film and only transcends the theater. Ellen Burstyn produces something that should be monitored, and reports by a wannabe actor.

Instead of resorting to the stereotype of junkies active status, "growled the director of their race, because he wants to show how quickly time passes when they are high. And this explains why their life is empty so if they consume drugs that movie was not made clear before. set of noisy passing the addicts "nirvana," dead "at a premium to important medicines time.

"Mass dead" also wanted the number is larger that the addicts, as indicated in the rituals of getting high as they are manufactured endorphin Rush itself.Brilliant cinematographer Matthew Libatique, shoot these sequences so painstakingly risk some People think the film glorifies the terrible habits. It is not, and jump into the nightmare continued destruction is made clear as the use of heroin, cocaine and coffee. This film glorifies addiction in any way it puts a hard face on it and all these people come away from the film, the drug is about movie characters, and then do not we as a society . Personally, I think, should have considered it necessary, in high schools throughout the country to show the seriousness of the situation that users of illegal or prescription drugs.
Finally, "dead" is a powerful visual representation of the lives of the characters and their thinking. Refrigerator will sprout greedy throat, and the view through a dirty window on a rainy, dark street suddenly sunny and bright. The people in "requiem for a Dream" can see nothing before them, and not really confident in themselves until it is too late. It's not clear when the film is set, but his Brighton Beach is certainly not good. The time of the film is set to be irrelevant, because it is a masterpiece, which speaks for our past, present and future. It is no doubt, the most modern filmmaking.

Be warned: it is not for the faint of heart. It is brutal, powerful, churning stomach, and not particularly great. But assuming you received prepared for the trip, it will forget you. "5 Star Rating" for the movie itself.

Review : Nothing Sunny About PC Blu-ray Drive Adoption

Blu-ray and selling prices are falling, but PC manufacturers are still slow to incorporate the storage Blu-ray drives rich with their products, reports iSuppli, in part because of the costs.

Sales to consumers on Blu-ray is growing rapidly, is the player prices fell sharply, and several movies, is now available in high definition is for a reason. And yet, the number of Blu-ray drives for PCs only progressing slowly until a new report from iSuppli.

BDS will be available in 3.6 percent of the computer, the number will increase to 16.3 percent in 2013.

"BDS will not replace DVD as the primary optical drive in the computer system, at least 2013, said Michael Yang, senior analyst at iSuppli storage and mobile storage declaration.
They finally find success, but over the next five years, that success will be limited in the computer science sector. "

Yang attributed the slow increase of three factors. The first is the cost of PC buyers willing to pay a higher price for high-definition disc. Linked to this is the second reason is still a limited number of movies in HD.

"The question of costs reinforces the fact that the contents of a library is so small that there really is a reason to switch to it instantly," said Yang. He adds that even if the studio is to create more Blu-ray content in a week, is still waiting to make a very large number of them have won.

Blu-ray looks like a DVD or CD, and is intended to replace the DVD addition to maintaining high-definition video, can store more data than a DVD to some reports, about six times more storage space.

The third factor, the Yang, which is difficult to gain popular computers of today, RV DVD drive. iSuppli noted that historically the location of each new media success has everything to gain popularity, whose contents became widely available, and consumers are aware that this is good, easy to use and worth the price.

"There is no doubt that Blu-ray produces images with higher resolution, better sound quality and greater storage space for home entertainment," Yang said in a statement.

"But these benefits have little or no value in looking at the contents of a PC or laptop screen and use small speakers low.

The firm forecasts that the CD / DVD will be 94.10 percent penetration rate of PCs sold worldwide in 2010, before jumping to 89 percent in 2011 to 84.8 percent in 2012 and 83.7 percent 2013th This coincides with the spread of BD increases to 5.9 percent in 2010, 11 percent in 2011 and 15.2 percent in 2012 before reaching 16.3 percent 2013th

Movie Review : THE FINAL DESTINATION (2009)

After the fourth round, this concept is all the old excitement is still there, but several murders that are not creative like the Saw movies. This largest franchise attraction too ... I know, even if it happens, and cheat death to prevent one event. In addition to 3D tricks, final destination has much to offer.

I do not think we can entirely blame the director David R. Ellis, who helmed many more highly hyped Snakes on a Plane. It is the director of a limp, he can not help, maybe even look up to Michael Bay for example. Final Destination films most of the places. This is the first aircraft, and the other is the road, the third roller coaster, is now developing the highway will be offered. This film is about this place to try to find ways that may be fatal accidents. Once again, as the previous installment, we see a different set of domino effect. Suddenly, for no particular reason, pushing a metal holder, which then proposed a tank of gasoline, oil, cigarettes eventually meet the bud, even worse, one leading to another, you know the drill.

As I said, the joy is still there, and that probably what will keep fans of the franchise attached to their seats. Times when you can see every detail began to unfold, and began to occur, making you guess how many characters will die, but it was all a tease until the shock effect allegedly comes into play. But it all depends on the film is that every bloody deaths occurred. Sometimes even the marginal cases are lazy, he chose to drop a big old house and the case is closed. 'OK, so we have a knife in here, so let's just get to fly, and put people straight. This is not complicated and quite creative.

I always imagined the film Final Destination death is like a serial killer in another blow as Michael Myers, Jason and Freddy, but death is more frightening enemy, because it is almost invisible. I will put the motion, and just sit and watch what is needed to accelerate the pace and eventually claimed his victims. What I like about the final destination is a place where everything seems forced. I understand the writer Eric Bress wanted to scare the audience by making things worse and worse, and when you think he can calm down, there are worse, but all the objects in the room felt as if they were ganging creatures over the people of what looks like a chance not only attract more.

I like the 3D aspect of the film. Indeed, always fun to see the image pop from the screen, will be in the deck, which leads directly to the face or a sharp metal sticking out his chest. What I like about the first two installments, the paranoia that comes from the death will not catch you with the guard down. The end goal is only little impact on the character and it makes me mad, especially thanks to some dreadful acting by all actors. I even felt sorry for the actor Mykelti Williamson aka Bubba from Forrest Gump, he must be very low on money that are willing to spend time with the young MTV poster boys and girls, as the only black man in this movie as my friend Jeremy describes as "beautiful people in danger"

Come to think of it, is the ultimate goal is more likely than fourth reboot.
In previous films, there are times when you almost to death he realized that the investigation, when you're trying to figure out how to solve a good chain, not only one of which is estimated to escape from death, and has such a sense of history can become a a fun place. But now ... To return to the default again ... more sex. God, I hope that this movie actually, finally. Let us bury and is already moving.

Oscar-winning 'Gladiator' makes Blu-ray debut on Sept

With "Gladiator (3-half stars, R, 2000), directed by Ridley Scott took over the task of creating a huge sword and sandal epic, the film relies on visitors who have not seen the film since 1964's" Fall of the Roman Empire. "

(I'm not counting 1981's "Clash of the Titans," which is technically the film Gladiator, but it feels like one.)

Scott, whose previous films "Alien," "Blade Runner" and "Thelma and Louise", deserves a laurel wreath is a fascinating spectacle, "Gladiator," which was nominated for 12 Academy Awards and won five, including best film and Best Actor Russell Crowe. The film is a Blu-ray Disc debut-1st September

"Gladiator" is set in ancient Rome, whose army is fighting the Vandals in Germany. The army was led to victory of Maximus (Crowe, whose "State of Play" is available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc 1 September). De Algemene overwinning verzekert de Gunst van de Keizer Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris), and beslist die door geven over zijn eigen Zoon Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), en zijn als de Naam opvolger Maximus. Marcus Aurelius plan, "is that Maximus, Reform Party candidate during the control forces back to the Roman Senate.'s Day, the emperor died before he could express his wishes.

In fact, the Court of Emperor Commodus always within the meaning of political advice to his sister Lucilla (Connie Nielsen, "Mission to Mars), in which the incest model. Chest," the first question that Maximus was taken (along with his wife and son) is a threat Chest "Remove."

If you want a job well done, but the real me. Maximus escapes from Commodus Goonies, "but the injury left him vulnerable. Coming home in Spain, too late to save his family, Maximus is out. Lying near death, he was captured and enslaved Next (Oliver Reed), coach gladiators.

Maximus looks born, and Gladiator soon Coliseum in Rome, where Commodus ordered the festival games for the public to erode their own incompetence. Maximus This gives the opportunity to retaliate and set course back to Rome, Marcus Aurelius in mind.

Crowe, totally convincing performance in general-slave-turned-Gladiator. It is possible to think of another contemporary actor who could pull tasks.

Phoenix, also Oscar-nominated film, it seems selfish Commodus, particularly emotional scene charge against Harris and Nielsen. Phoenix does not even get a few scenes from the battle, frees a very good sword.

Nielsen gives the right atmosphere of mystery to the role of Lucilla. The audience learns that Lucilla Maximus was before, but never get to understand the nature of the relationship. Father Maximus, Lucilla's son Lucius (Spencer Treat Clark)? Commodus, or fats, and uncle and the father of the child?

Reed, in his last task, the film is a source of stability and practicality. Maximus's advice: Take the car, first love of people known gladiator rich. Even in ancient Rome, was a celebrity uses. Reed died shortly before the end of "Gladiator." The priority is to use one of their scenes.

Among the supporting actors Djimon Hounsou ( "Amistad") is different from Juba, a man slave who befriends Maximus. Derek Jacobi ( "Dead Again"), who previously made television costume, "I, Claudius", gives a good picture of the corrosive Gracchus, Senator, that has an impact on political intrigue.

Scott and production designer Arthur Max surpassed his own recreation of ancient Rome. Introduced (in England, Morocco, Malta, Italy) and costumes are amazing data.

Of course, such a film is always a welcome cast of thousands. The "Gladiator" 2000 extra Coliseum performance with the computer set the 33,000 spectators. In fact, it is only a fraction of a lower level, the Coliseum was built in the real set. Other buildings added, some nice computer, special effects shots.

Although impressive technological achievements, his audience too aware of the impact of computers (especially convincing couples who want a bird flying across the screen). The end result is that many of the film seems to be less effective than similar films from 1950.

The exception is Scott tension sequences, especially highly choreographed gladiator battles and wars in Germany, the film begins. Filled with burning torches, and catapults to launch the corresponding Roman Napalm and scope maimings and executions, the war period to make the public understand why the hell Maximus describes the battle log.

Scott handling frames per second, all these operations, at a time when nervous attacks, anxiety and confusion that puts emphasis on the characters. Design also assists in the defeat of violence, a step that the impact of Gore's movie rich cushion.

"Gladiator" seem to have second thoughts with regard to violence. I can not decide for the public to eliminate the use of ever so lovingly photographed entirely on location, and chaos, enthusiastic people in Rome.

The film is enriched by an unforgettable orchestral scores of veteran film composer Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard. Unfortunately, I sometimes feel that the result was unforgettable, because I've heard. It is easy to follow the inspiration for the music scene in the fight, "Gustav Holst, Mars - the bringer of war" from the "Planet". I am the only one who thinks that the question of Maximus' sounds Conrad Birdie Fan Club Anthem "Bye Bye Birdie"?

Press materials "Gladiator", as Stanley Kubrick's "Spartacus" (1960), as the last great film Gladiator, is easy to see "Fall of the Roman Empire." While it is true that it is not technically the film Gladiator, has a direct impact inspired number "Gladiator."

Both began the war in Germania, Marcus Aurelius and Commodus in the school. Opponent Commodus, "and" Fall of the Roman Empire, but the general state of vengeful gladiator. Since the "Gladiator", opponents are fighting so much love for a woman to lust for power.

Movie Review : Inglourious Basterds (2009)

More than any other in the recent past, the world of cinema in the film world to make it clear that under certain circumstances, the only answer to violence, but crazy crazy violence, and that the cost of this measure, usually to something that you call gentle morals are not required to pay.

Morality is concerned with what is right and what is wrong. Plato, however, is just "another. In the dialogue called Gorgias, it shows that the morally good must be that which makes us happy, and that furthermore, they are delighted when we were doing well with the public.

Sense, Tarantino's view of the world "Basterds Inglourious fits" very well with the vision of Plato. As horrible and brutal violence of a storm of violence, as I looked, I'm happier and happier and more feverish pitch. And the authors of bhfeice, even the death of most of them are or appear to believe that their achievements.

Of course, Tarantino is the happiest of us all. Obviously Revels in tension, creating a long, seemingly endless scenes that we know to end the terrible violence, but it supports our focus on ability, a small glass of milk with mundane details, in view of the tube, courtesy of enemies at most shocking of all time, the Nazis effectively.

In point of fact, violence is not really - a few slow scalpings, carved a swastika into one of baseball ATM, with several shooting well - but expected violence expectation that crawl the flesh It makes you squirm instead. If you work in Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs", in particular the wonderful dancing, when Michael Madsen and tranquility of the Mumbles to another boy, whose name remembered joy Madsen "quiet Tarantino and sensual slow motion to adopt the fee for the ear if you like , then it will be like swimming in the African dung cake "Basterds Inglourious". It is elegant. And we also respond to the elegance, style and grace. Even in the brutal murder.

We then as a Sergio Leone movie-musical Grand credits the project with the film text, as in a fairy tale, "When the time ...".

Therefore, you start to tell the story of a gang of murderers of Jews under the protection of the highest mountain in Tennessee boy named Aldo Raines, set behind enemy lines in France to kill Nazis. And not only to kill, to kill a living bejeesus so scared of the Nazis to hear exploits.

The full version is due to the respect, if not the robbery of a "dirty dozen" This, starring Brad Pitt is usually based on the understanding in the top ( "to" more accurately) with Lee Marvin. Pitt makes his meal as it does every time he was a small amount of characters to play. He walks along the edge of the area, but end up loving it because he enjoyed so much to do so. And we have to Pitt, and his character, moral good, because I'm so happy, not very cautious and doing well the world community to eliminate the Nazis.

Arís, go gníomhach loves Tarantino scannáin, carachtar Pitt a thabhairt ar an ainm "John Raines," a drámaí as an ainm ar an aisteoir mór carachtar agus veteran an Dara Cogadh Domhanda, Aldo Ray. Character names honor the memory of some other actors in the dark hours. Tarantino, for all the things that make movies, especially films about the period of 1970 were the glory days, the re-birth of American cinema, a heart open to the love of cinema as a whole, good.

To my knowledge, there is historical evidence that maize is one of the things that happens in "Basterds Inglourious" never happens in real life. But the film, so what? This is disrespectful to soldiers who fought in this war? Is contempt of Jews were tortured and killed during the war? Malignant Before the French resistance, which fought hard against the German occupation? Mocks even the Nazis or supporting one housing officer? No, never. This is a fantasy, a dream in movies and cartoons that describe emotions. And the feeling is revenge. We are allowed directly on the instinctive nature will take revenge on demand if this thing is called a law or a nervous civilization, that God calls us to behave like adults.

The best thing about "meeting Basterds Inglourious" with Austrian actor Christoph Waltz, by Lieutenant Hans Landa. Joy will be life and death power over the clever, darting Humor swings the pretense of sophistication and humility, learn to speak effectively in four languages used in the film, and true self happy when he finally struck a deal leis an devil tá gach iontach . It is based on thanaí line between horror and comedy. And, who appears as Travolta in "Pulp Fiction", able to resurrect his career. Career can not waltz in Germany has to increase again, but it seems to be limited to television. Now, with the Oscar talk already ( right) that flight, you can spend several days in Hollywood.

There are some holes could not fill. Together with land, not so much time spent on character development of the demons themselves. Thiachóga two species. I can not remember his death and not accounted for in the end. The film may be worth more than was necessary to change and beyond. We do not know when to create a Blu-Ray in December. Ultimately, this is a fun popcorn movie. In a break not because of new, but can take with you Old Ground Tarantino family to new levels of fun and indulgence. And the name "Angels and Demons" spelling mistakes, the only way young Tennessee could collapse if it has been known to create a myth.

The Last Starfighter Blu-ray Review

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has dug deep and reached the liberation of science fiction of the 1980s, The Last Starfighter Blu-ray.
The Last Starfighter is the kind of sci-fi does a great job of combining amazing special effects for its time, with a story well done.
The film follows a young boy named Alex, who has a passion for the game called Starfighter.
Same as other heroes Luke Skywalker and science fiction, has a passion to leave your house and go to things bigger and better.
What ends up discovering is that the game is a recruiting tool, and do not just say that the galaxy in a world that had always dreamed.
This film is very well done and the kind of science-fiction movie fans will probably appreciate.
The Blu-ray itself is first class with superb video transefer in 2.35:1 aspect ratio in 1080p.
The film is very clean and the special effects were transferred out.
The audio is also strong, as presented in DTS-HD 5 / 1 piece.
As for supplements, starting with a nice pair of documentaries looking at the story, casting, and everything else.
These two documentaries about an hour combined. Extras are complemented by an audio commentary, a photo gallery and trailers. BD-Live content is also published on the inside, but was not available after closing.
The Last Starfighter is well worth watching Blu-ray because this movie is a fan of science fiction strong youth and adults can enjoy. A must for fans of science fiction.

Film: 8.4 A very well-done classic sci-fi film.
Video: 9.0 Considering the source material’s age, great stuff.
Audio: 8.7 The audio gets the job done nicely.
Extras: 8.0 Good extras, BD-Live is a bonus.
Final Score: 8.5

Do Tarantino's 'Basterds' jibe with Jewish beliefs?

It is eye for eye, tooth for tooth.

When the blood soaked through the new Quentin Tarantino film 'Inglourious Basterds', the Jewish soldiers Bash scalp Nazi soldiers will meet to try to take revenge on his people and to stop the Holocaust.

Quentin Tarantino's World War II, a fantasy, and violence is nothing more than a cartoon bestiality, and perhaps chastening experience with some Jewish viewers. Such inverse form of schadenfreude: Giving Jews a taste of Ultimate Nazis of their own medicine.

Yet the movie is also a growing Genre Jewish-inspired movie where the victims are the winners. Anne Frank is no longer hidden in the ceiling, the fate of Judaism is no longer dependent upon the Gentiles, as a charitable Oskar Schindler.

In short, the Jews sat and they will not. But can the defense of Judaism, for example to take revenge?

Rabbi and researchers point out that Judaism is a distinction between acts of self defense and revenge, and the Jewish right to frown on Torture Enemy - even Adolf Hitler, "said Rabbi Joel Roth, a professor at Jewish Theological Seminary in New York.

"On the other hand, I also understand human emotions," he said. "The reluctance, would you like to see their scalp? No, but you must look at the context. And that may be better deterrent that could save further, perhaps to defend."

Rabbi Irwin Kula, president of the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, New York's Jews, think tank shows the film one long "Fun Action of the Jews, instead of fantasy."

Roth meantime questions: the answer to let the Jews like David against Goliath "in which more fodder for those who see Israel is the aggressor and oppressor, and shelter for victims of centuries of persecution.

But anti-Semites is not a rule, films like "Schindler's List" or "Diary of Anne Frank", which is suffering of Jews, said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean Simon Wiesenthal Center, the world's human rights organization named after a Jewish survivor of Holocaust helped to produce in court the Nazis after WWII.

Cooper had not seen 'Inglourious Basterds', but he says, but it felt like a valuable addition to a new genre known as the Jewish resistance, as last year's "challenge", the company Jews sought refuge in the forests of Belarus during the Holocaust, and 2005's "Munich" on the murder of the Arab terrorists who murdered Israeli Olympic athletes in 1972.

This trend may be due to changing perceptions of Jewish power, because the Israeli military victory in the decades after the Holocaust, he said, Rota.

Moreover, the imaginary, the transition, which is notorious for his cruelty "assholes", in contrast to previous reports from the film - the place, even if justified, ultimately disastrous for those who are looking for, "says Antony Polonsky, a professor of Holocaust teaches Brandeis University.

"I do not think it is the view among Jews of those things," he said. "Immediately after the war was disagreement among those who survived the Nazi genocide of the company. But the strongest opinion that the murder was somewhere in the level of the killers are.

Blu-ray Won't Overtake DVD Until 2013

Blu-ray DVD's will not have to make a primary optical drive in your PC until at least 2013, according to industry analyst iSuppli.

Market watchers claim only 3.6% of PCs shipped this year will come with a Blu-ray, high-capacity drives only appear in a more powerful engine.

Actually there is no reason for users to switch to Blu-ray at the moment

The figures will cast doubt on the future of the format, at least in terms of computer storage. Cheap flash drives have largely replaced the need for high capacity optical storage, with 25GB Blu-ray is still so much cost £ 6.50 each.

"They [Blu-ray drive] will eventually find success, but during the next five years, that success will be limited in the PC segment," states Michael Yang, senior analyst for mobile storage and memory at iSuppli.

Claim that a lack of Blu-ray movie titles, and the growing popularity of download services, will inhibit the attractiveness more formats. "The cost reinforced by the fact that libraries are very small item that is not really no reason for users to switch now," he added.

"It is undeniable that the Blu-ray offers a higher resolution image, the sound quality is better and more storage space for home entertainment," he added. "But these benefits have little or no value in viewing the contents of smaller desktop PC or laptop screen and use the box arms."

Review: How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days – Blu-ray Disc

Directly from the bat, I do not like romantic comedies. For one thing inappropriate relationship laughed. Horror, filled with remorse, feeling great pain - it is the things that go together with love. Laughter is not included in this category. The nearest I've come for a romantic comedy in a long time will be 500 Days of Summer, which destroyed the film has lost almost all my life crush on Zooey Deschanel as a result. But now the standard genre of providers who are ready for you with High Definition!

This began August 18, is now available for Blu-ray Disc from Paramount Home Entertainment Studio romantic comedy comes to the attraction and repulsion forces and bad movies. How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days - Blu-ray Disc is ready to come whirling out of your television screen and pollute the living room with laughter and stories about unattainable love. Bringing all the high definition home today!

Andy Anderson is a successful columnist, beautiful and just to refrain Magazine who wrote a column about how to do all sorts of different things. This has been agreed only to try an experiment in his life to see what he had to do to get a man to leave in just ten days. However, in those days, a successful, beautiful and only one ad Benjamin Barry got a big bet that he can get a woman to fall in love in just ten days. Two conflicts with efforts to create more predictable in comedy. The film stars Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, Adam Goldberg, Michael Michele and Shalom Harlow and directed by Peter Donald.

Special features included in the Blu-ray Disc is an optional audio commentary by director Donald Peter, saw the making of this film, a featurette about girls night, see why the gender wars, a music video by Keith Urban and options deleted scenes with optional audio commentary by director Peter Donald.

Among my friends, this film is the code that we use to refer to films and romantic comedies in particular extraordinary. Matthew McConaughey still have to convince in every movie he ever appeared in, except that John Grisham movie. I feel bad saying that because he is a good friend of Lance Armstrong, but it must be said. Matthew McConaughey is a very bad actor. Now I love Kate Hudson and only find incredibly attractive. It is the jewel in Almost Famous and it was sad for it was known as a kind of romantic comedy actors. But, hey, if you like romantic comedies, the logic of my arguments against them may be beyond your understanding, so feel free to view the remains. There is a part of the film and all things that satisfy at least feel better with high definition.

A vision becoming reality: Panasonic's Full HD 3-D

If the leading electronics company Panasonic churns enthusiasm for new technology, the tsunami swept the world.

And when it detects page in a format war - as a society, Blu-ray vs HD DVD high-definition DVD "war", the boys and the other team should start planning an exit strategy.

(Aside: "Never say die" HD-DVD developer Toshiba will launch the first line of Blu-ray-equipped products.)

So when Bob Perry, Panasonic Corp. executive last week said that the Full HD 3-D technology, "the next big thing in consumer electronics" and come back in autumn 2010, I think we should take the rights to his words.

Peace in the Valley? "There will be no battle this time format" Perry promised to visit Panasonic's Secaucus, NJ, headquarters, an overview of the technology. "Sony is with us in this regard. What is" Full HD "is the de facto standard for 3D displays and Blu-ray Disc format will be standardized in the coming months."

This is sufficient time, Perry is expected around 100 3D movies that are ready to release the disc in the hardware of the 2010 holiday shopping season.

High on the list is certainly the last 3-D, as a theatrical hits Pixar / Disney 's "Up" and "Monsters vs. Aliens DreamWorks, and their studios decided not to put the video on the domestic market, the current (very ) old school 3-D format, this funky red and blue lenses, "anaglyph" glasses, which kills the colors of the film.

But Blockbuster, I hope that Panasonic has the rock world, and plans to upgrade equipment in the 3-D James Cameron's "Avatar," the obsession of 10 years, 300 million U.S. project which the director, as the bomb " Titanic "and, finally, of course, come December 18 cinemas

Mutual admiration COMPANY: Panasonic devices used in the manufacture of Cameron's sci-fi show, "the heroic fight to save civilization," which is a distant moon. And electronics company has announced a massive global campaign together, and the film's efforts to Panasonic's 3-D head on the front of your video.

Consider moving tractor trailer truck-mounted full HD 3-D theaters in the length and breadth of the country (and Europe) in the autumn, to call people on board to display the next big thing in a 103-DINCH Panasonic 3-D display. And believe in TV commercials, so caught up in the film feeling that it is not known to the sponsor, the distributor of the film (20th Century Fox), or TV-maker.

Panasonic has a similar spirit to merge several times, as a major sponsor / Celebrator Olympics. And Whoa, are not fantastic, in-your-face 3-D images of the Beijing Olympics in 2008, to be presented during the second treatment, the high-tech, the dog and pony show.

NOMENCLATURE said: "HD" is part of the brand image refers to the fact that the other left and right image quickly pushed the screen 120 times per second 1080p resolution (to 60 images per page). The infrared light from the side bears trigger liquid shutter glasses that constantly flashes open and closed, the left and right in sync with the video images. The brain changes with these images, and behold, we see the same depth of three-dimensional images, the eye takes in the world.

"Unlike other 3D systems have been" (talking about the Samsung or Mitsubishi's former employer, Bob?) "There is no compromise in our image," said Perry.

This is the kind of discourse that the film purists, as Cameron is very happy. And this is not likely to interfere with the film studios, cable and satellite television are reluctant, at least for a time, allocate the bandwidth it takes to complete the HD-3 - D-channel to its subscribers. In order to better sell the paper plates and more expensive, pay-per-view 3-D version of Voodoo and CinemaNow is planning to slow down the hard drive of the consumer unit.

Yes, the television, to work harder, run faster and manipulate 3-D images. "The study of 600 Hz (600 cycles per second)" Plasma technology is suitable, but still need to update the components of new series, "said Guy Panasonic. "The bonus is that the additional power will look like TV is the best level."

And he predicted that the manufacturers of the LCD TV screen technology will speed up the handle 3-D. Perhaps to this end, the Samsung (and perhaps others) introduces a 400-Hz screens at the IFA electronics show in Berlin next week.

Buy more: it is clear that a new generation Blu-ray and need to load more data-intensive content - although this is not exactly twice the normal high-definition movies, "says Perry." We need to encode the entire frame. To the left of the picture. Then, other parts of the right eye, then it is enough for the difference between a picture in this respect. "Today, 50 GB Blu-ray Disc will be sufficient to keep the 3-D film," even if it might sacrifice some valuable extras all hours, "said Perry, the tongue-in-cheek.

The new HDMI 1.4 cable connectors are slightly different in the end will also be related to the acquisition of components, and the show yesterday. This requirement will delay the introduction of 3-D game consoles - Oh, Sony unveiled the PlayStation 3 Slim - Perry said, although several 3D titles for personal computers, including the "G-Force Ubisoft" and the upcoming "Avatar: The Game Video, "will be played on Panasonic's 3D-TV, a multi-pin computer connections.

Crank It Up?: During my recent Panasonic Full HD 3-D Theater, I found the image to a sharp, deep and permanent. A clip from Disney's "Bolt" was shot in full-out-of-the blue-and-your-face deals.

The only complaint is that the performances of the 3D movie money "(actually aluminum) shows the surface brightness image is significantly less than that flash on the left / right lens shutter. Think about it. In fact, go down to the point of view, if the other eye is open, reducing consumption for lighting by 50 percent.

The current demos, Panasonic uses a different supplier's 3-D shutter glasses more comfortable running a 250-hour capacity of the lithium battery and has a shade, sunglasses watch all around them. Hopefully, Panasonic's display glasses anyway leave the laboratory, leaving a small light shines in our eyes.

This Week on DVD and Blu-ray, Release August 25th, 2009

As you say, I just watched Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" and loved every minute. Mostly, I complain about a movie is too long, but with the "Basterds" I wanted more, even with the proximity of two and a half hours of screen time. I also managed to catch another great film in the "9th". This is a great sci-fi flick with some great action sequences, and the social commentary site. It is unbelievable that they did not have a budget of 30 million U.S. dollars. "District 9" makes me really wish that "Halo" movie that Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp worked on had not been shattered. Anyway, outside of theaters and into your home theater Here are the news this week.

It may not be an epic of war or a special effects-heavy sci fi image, but "Adventure Land" is well worth your time. This is a story quiet coming-of-age loosely based on experiences director Greg Mottola while working in an amusement park. While Mottola also directed "Superbad, this" is not a low brow, the screwball comedy that the advertising campaign he played that way. The movie is funny with a tender side when he explores the awkwardness of teenagers become young adults. "Adventure Land" stars Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Ryan Reynolds, and a couple of hilarious support from 'SNL cast members "Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig. You can read the critic James Plath Blu-Ray here.

Tony Gilroy already has a writer-demand through his work on the Bourne franchise. He made his directorial debut with Michael Clayton, one of the best films of 2007, and a film that improves with each viewing. Gilroy followed the "Clayton" to "Duplicity" starring Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. I mistakenly thought "Duplicity" would be another thriller, and was surprised that it was actually like "Ocean's Eleven . Essentially a breezy heist film, "Duplicity" is above all the charisma and chemistry dashing Owen Roberts and the beautiful. While the towers are always a good thing in a manuscript, Gilroy engaged just a little too much and eventually pull the rug from under the audience. My Friend DVD by the critics seem to agree that Dean Winkelspecht said the same thing in his review of Blu-Ray as Christopher Long in his theatrical review.

"Sunshine Cleaning" comes to us on DVD and Blu-Ray this week, Starz / Anchor Bay. Just another strange indie comedy with 'Sunshine' in its title, "Sunshine Cleaning" this big Alan Arkin in a supporting role, while Amy Adams and Emily Blunt play a couple of sisters who start a crime scene cleaning of stuff. I missed the "Sunshine Cleaning" in its limited theatrical run, but I heard good things from friends and I have a weakness for these two beautiful actresses means that I will certainly check.

Labor controversial writer Bret Easton Ellis has been adapted several times in movies like "American Psycho", the cult 80's classic "Less Than Zero" and boring "Rules of Attraction". Based on a collection of short stories by Ellis, "The Informers" is a film that I did not realize was released. Seriously, I do not remember ever having seen a single poster or a trailer, I do not think he ever played in any of my local cinemas. Somewhat surprising given the voice is a collection of stars that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Basinger, Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke, Chris Isaak, Amber Heard, and fire-Brad Renfro in his final role. "Informants" currently has an approval catastrophic 13% on Rotten Tomatoes and John J. Puccio described Fest "snooze" in its Blu-ray examination.

What is your film called? "Fighting". What's it about? Fighting. Creativity entitled "Fighting" hits DVD and Blu-Ray with both formats offering a rated and unrated cut. "Fighting" stars present GI Joe Channing Tatum and former War Machine Terrence Howard as Hustler street turned earth just Knuckle fighter and his trainer, respectively. As with "Never Back Down," "Fighting" is a poor attempt to cash on the growing popularity of the competition of mixed martial arts.

If you are looking for dishes more intellectual, Criterion will feed your refined taste with a couple of excellent publications. "The Last Days of Disco" stars Kate Beckinsale and Chloë Sevigny (none of them hit it big yet) as Manhattanites in the transition from the disco days and birth Me Decade. The test also publishes "Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Brussels," I have not seen but sounds like a unique French take on "urban unrest" genre that appears constantly as a bad rash. Resident Christopher Lange film snob reviews online for both the "Last Days of Disco" and "Jeanne Dielman." Mr. Long has also seen the documentary "Trouble the Water", a story of surprising consequences of Hurricane Katrina and the 'gross incompetence of government to help victims.

Wrestling fans will certainly be interested in the latest release from WWE, "The Rise & Fall of WCW." Producers DVD from WWE have done a fantastic job several years ago with "The Rise and Fall of ECW", a chronicle upstart promotion that dramatically changed and modernized mining. Now they are evaluating similar material with this DVD of a class of struggle waged by the great Ted Turner and Time Warner could have died a painful death. Reverse Juggernaut McMahon family lost 60 million dollars in just 2000, "The Rise and Fall of WCW should be educated.

On the television side of things, there is much news value of your time and money. The Hugh Laurie returns as the always entertaining caustic Dr. Gregory House in "House: Season Five", published this week, alone or in box with all the previous seasons.

"Scrubs: The eighth season" hits DVD this week too. Initially intended to be the final season, creator Bill Lawrence said the show would return in another form, with Dr. Cox and Turk education among students. Usually shows shooting ourselves in the foot after undergoing radical changes, but I hope the ultra-talented John C. McGinley keep "Scrubs" liquid.

While "Scrubs" will return to ABC programming this fall, "Samantha Who?" will unfortunately not. Christina Applegate Kelly Bundy set firmly behind her wonderful turn as the self-absorbed old woman who tries to make things right after an accident that left him with amnesia. Applegate earned nominations for Emmys and Golden Globes, while his companion expressed Jean Smart (who played his TV mom) triggered a win at the Emmys. Fans can at least be happy that the show hits second and final season DVD this week.

I deplored the fact that "Smallville" should have quit while he was before, I must say that season 8 of the series had some great episodes. Minds behind the show has finally wised up and began to introduce the residents more and more of the DC universe. Season 8 Doom featured as a recurring nature, and appearances guests Zatanna, Plastic, Maxima, and the Legion of Super-Heroes in an episode written by Geoff Johns writes comics. Season 9 looks very promising as Johns would like to write an episode of the legal company while Brian Austin Green joins the stars like Kryptonite metallo powered cyborg. There are also rumors that the show will bring Wonder Twins. Yeah ...

Anyway, "Smallville: The eighth season" will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray. TV Other releases this week are: "Lie To Me: Season 1," "NCIS: The Complete Sixth Season," "thirtysomething: The Complete First Season", and "The Adventures of Robin Hood: The Complete Series.

He does this week. Try not to spend too much money in New Release Day.
